Head of Commercial Sales and Marketing (12 month Maternity cover)

More specific responsibilities to include:

  • To work with the General Manager to inform and maintain a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy to achieve commercial growth.
  • To promote the Arena which will involve maximising our industry profile, the development and production of appropriate literature, contact with potential clients, customer research including surveys, extensive media contact etc.
  • To support event marketing team with Promoters liaison of events staged at the venue to either provide advice on implement regional promotions and advertising of events, venue and promoter opportunities.
  • To develop and oversee appropriate databases, liaise with the Box Office and others to facilitate efficient marketing activity.
  • To manage the production and maintain stocks of suitable current printed materials and maintain and update the venue website.
  • To develop and oversee venue social media activities to maximise venue and event exposure.
  • To undertake the ongoing marketing function for the Arena and for any other commercial involvement’s that the company may develop in the venue.
  • To oversee and manage the selling of hospitality, both term tenancies and daily/ one-off event tenancies and other hospitality facilities.
  • To develop contacts through the appropriate local communities to foster goodwill, support, sponsorships, suite sales, hospitality etc.
  • To maintain, maximise on and service major sponsorships including naming rights for the venue.
  • To develop and market appropriate hospitality packages and advertising opportunities.
  • To produce reports, analysis and recommendations as may be periodically required
  • To develop and maintain a sales target achievement tracking system.
  • To maintain the hospitality and marketing team: coaching, motivating and driving for success.
  • To work with other Heads of Department to maximise opportunities and ensure delivery.
  • To develop and foster a customer centric attitude in everything we do.
  • To maximise client relationships to ensure high levels of retention and repeat business.
  • To work with others towards raising the National and European profile of Utilita Arena.
  • To keep abreast of industry developments and to adopt best practice.
  • To undertake any other duties as may from time to time be reasonably requested.


Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Three years Commercial marketing experience – it would be a distinct advantage if this has been gained in a leisure, sports or entertainment venue.
  • Operated at a management level in either sales or marketing.
  • Have a proven track record of formulating and implementing successful marketing strategies.
  • Have successfully managed and developed teams to consistently achieve targets.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
  • A strong leader, charismatic, motivational who will lead by example and achieve excellent individual and team results.
  • Sound financial knowledge of budgeting and margin control.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Be able to demonstrate personal success in a current role and looking to accept the next challenge.


Additional Points:

  • Due to the nature of the role there will be a requirement to work weekends and evenings.
  • There will be a requirement to travel in the UK.
  • 1 months’ Notice Period.
  • Act as Executive on Duty during events (subject to background and experience)
