SMG Europe has appointed Ade Dovey to the team which oversees the development and programming of content for its UK Venues: First Direct Arena, Leeds, Manchester Arena, Utilita Arena, Newcastle, P&J Live Aberdeen, Bonus Arena, Hull and the York Barbican.
With a remit to expand on live concerts, innovation, revenue and culture, Ade joins Sarah Hodson at an exciting period of growth and development to bolster the events calendars for SMG UK’s portfolio venues, working with existing promoters, agents and event organisations as well as developing new relationships and new clients within the music industry.
In his previous role as Head of Programming within the Mission Mars Group, Ade curated and programmed three award-winning venues, producing over 700 events a year. Of his appointment, Ade said: “it’s an absolute privilege to be joining SMG Europe, the calibre of its venues, its rich history of events and the teams behind each establishment define the meaning world class. Personally, and professionally it’s a natural progression from programming venues from 200 capacity to 2000 and now to concert halls and arena level. I can’t wait to deliver new content and build on the legacy that SMG contributes to the local and national music industry.”
John Sharkey, Executive Vice President of European Operations for SMG commented: “We’re delighted to have someone of Ade’s calibre and track record of success on board and we look forward to working with him and the team to deliver a wave of rich, new and exciting product for our events calendar as we develop our offering across our UK venues.”
