Manchester Arena has been recognised by industry professionals as one of the world’s best arenas after receiving two international award nominations.

The 21,000 capacity venue has made the shortlist of both Billboard’s Top International Arena Of The Year and Pollstar’s International Venue Of The Year.

The SMG managed and operated arena will now rub shoulders with industry giants Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay at Billboard’s award ceremony in Los Angeles on 9 November, followed by Pollstar’s ceremony on 2 February, also in Los Angeles.

Now in its 13th year, the Billboard Touring Awards honour the artists, managers and venues behind the most successful tours and events of the year.

The 28th Annual Pollstar Awards mark the ninth time the Manchester venue has been nominated International Venue Of The Year, having won the accolade in 2002.

James Allen, General Manager for Manchester Arena, said: “To be nominated for not one but two of the highest awards the music industry can bestow on a venue is an amazing accolade for the Manchester team. This is also a great opportunity for us to thank everyone who has visited the arena in 2016, from performers and promoters to concertgoers”.

The Manchester venue is up against New York’s Madison Square Garden and London’s O2 for Billboard’s final three and venues from Mexico, France and the Netherlands in Pollstar’s awards.
The venue will end the year with shows by The Cure, Simply Red, Madness, Andre Rieu and Rod Stewart, plus multiple nights by Red Hot Chili Peppers and Billy Connolly. The venue recently announced the return of hometown band Take That for a record breaking 44th show in 2017.
