Deputy Box Office Manager

The Bridgewater Hall (BWH) is one of the most prestigious and important performing arts venues in the United Kingdom with a significant international reputation. The Venue hosts classical music concerts, rock and pop plus a diverse range of other contemporary performances, along with educational institution graduations/presentations, conferences and seminars. In addition the Venue programmes a number of its own performances and events annually.

The Deputy Box Office Manager will be responsible for providing support to the Box Office Manager in regard to organisational and supervisorial direction in leading the Box Office Department and team ensuring the venue ticketing service is professionally presented and operated at all times and that through the Tessitura ticketing platform the highest level of service is delivered to the public and promoting organisations attending and operating within the facility.  Under the direction of the Box Office Manager, working with the Scheduling and Marketing Departments, the Deputy Box Office Manager will ensure that all events are placed on sale in a timely manner and that all assistance is given in the marketing and operations of the these events.  The position has Tessitura administration duties. The role assists with the employment of box office staff and their associated training and the implementation of OS&H policies.  The Box Office generates revenue for the Venue and the Deputy Box Office Manager will work to ensure income is maximized from each event placed on sale through the department.



- Experience within concert hall box office roles with specific reference to symphony orchestras and their ticketing requirements including the setting up of subscription seasons and associated ticketing needs 
- Extensive experience in the use of the Tessitura ticketing system
- Demonstrated administrative and organisational skills and experience supervising staff within a box office environment
- Demonstrated track record in a customer service within a ‘fine arts’ concert hall box office environment
- Excellent computer skills including, Outlook, Word and Excel (Intermediate level)
- Working knowledge of the SQL software and its use in preparing reports and interrogation of data sets
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and problem solve
- Outstanding communication skills both verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrative ability to direct and manage staff and to work well within a team environment
- Demonstrated understanding of the requirements of GDPR legislation
- A commitment to work evening and weekend hours as required (mandatory)

The following attributes would be advantageous but not mandatory

- Tertiary music based qualification or equivalent experience within the orchestral industry
- Experience with ticketing systems other than Tessitura
- Experience working within other arts organisations and venues
- An informed interest in music and performance
- The ability to demonstrate an awareness of the position in which The Bridgewater Hall site within an international context
