Title: Head of Sales and Marketing

Location: Metro Radio Arena Newcastle

Reporting to: General Manager

Hours: 37.5 per week (Including Evenings and Week-ends)

Responsible for:
All aspects of Marketing, PR and Promotion, and maximization of Commercial and hospitality revenue at
the Arena and ancillary venues, including promotion of events, and media liaison, public relations
activity, selling Corporate Facilities, maximising sponsorships, partnerships, advertising and commercial
rights revenue and the development of new commercial opportunities.

More specific responsibilities to include:

1. To work with the General Manager to formulate and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy to achieve commercial growth.
2. To promote the Arena which will involve maximising our industry profile, the development and production of appropriate literature, contact with potential clients, customer research including surveys, extensive media contact etc.
3. To support event marketing team with Promoters liaison of events staged at the venue to either provide advice on implement regional promotions and advertising of events, venue and promotor opportunities.
4. To develop and oversee appropriate databases, liaise with the Box Office and other to facilitate efficient marketing activity.
5. To manage the production and maintain stocks of suitable current printed materials and maintain and update the venue website.
6. To develop and oversee venue social media activities to maximize venue and event exposure.
7. To undertake the ongoing marketing function for the Arena and for any other commercial involvement’s that the company may develop in the venue.
8. To oversee and manage the selling of hospitality, both term tenancies and daily/ one-off event tenancies and other hospitality facilities.
9. To develop contacts through the appropriate local communities to foster goodwill, support, sponsorships, suite sales, hospitality etc.
10. To maintain, maximise on and service major sponsorships including naming rights for the venue.
11. To develop and market appropriate hospitality packages and advertising opportunities.
12. To produce reports, analysis and recommendations as may be periodically required.
13. To develop and implement a sales target achievement tracking system.
14. To lead the hospitality and marketing team: coaching, motivating and driving for success.
15. To work with other Heads of Department to maximise opportunities and ensure delivery.
16. To develop and foster customer centric attitude in everything we do.
17. To maximise client relationships to ensure high levels of retention and repeat business.

18. To work with others towards raising the National and European profile of Metro Radio Arena.
19. To keep abreast of industry developments and to adopt best practice.
20. To undertake any other duties as may from time to time be reasonably requested.

Essential Skills & Competencies

1. Three years Commercial marketing experience, it would be a distinct advantage if this has been gained in a leisure, sports or entertainment venue.
2. Operated at a management level in either sales or marketing.
3. Have a proven track record of formulating and implementing successful marketing strategies.
4. Have successfully managed and developed teams to consistently achieve targets.
5. Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
6. A strong leader, charismatic, motivational who will lead by example and achieve excellent individual and team results.
7. Sound financial knowledge of budgeting and margin control.
8. Excellent attention to detail.
9. Be able to demonstrate personal success in a current role and looking to accept the next challenge.

Additional Points:

1.       Due to the nature of the role there will be a requirement to work week-ends and evenings.
2.       There will be a requirement to travel in the UK.
3.       3 months Notice Period.
4.       Act as Executive on Duty during events.
