TITLE:   Event/ Maintenance Electrician

REPORTING TO: Building Services Manager

LOCATION:  First direct arena


The Maintenance Electrician is a critical member of Building Services Team. You will be responsible for providing support and maintenance to all electrical systems within a fast-paced, entertainment venue. This will require you to work with promoters, clients, contractors and suppliers to ensure the event electrical requirements are met. You will be required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. You will deliver planned and reactive maintenance to the building facilities. Whilst your main role is to provide electrical support, you will also be completing other maintenance duties including plumbing, decorating and basic joinery.

Key Accountabilities:

Event Support

• Carry out installation of temporary supplies and communications as per event specification
• Control and monitor all building systems during events HVAC, Water, Electrical, Gas, Fire and Safety
• Emergency repairs to any of the above systems

Planned Maintenance

• Maintenance of the buildings facilities which include heating and cooling systems HVAC, fire and safety systems, water supply systems, fixed electrical installations and portable equipment.
• Have an understanding of a PPM system.
• Regular maintenance of air handling and fan coil units.
• Electrical installation testing
• PAT testing
• Emergency lighting testing – computer controlled

Reactive Maintenance

• React and attend to repairs/breakdowns reported by staff and clients.
• Plumbing and sanitary repairs
• Door and woodwork repairs
• Electrical mains failure
• Understanding of a building management system and its responsibilities.
• Decorating- plaster repairs and painting
• Facilitate external contractors to resolve breakdowns

Building design and installations

• Design, install and test electrical circuits for additional sockets in office areas, newly acquired catering equipment, plant equipment.
• Design, install and test additional data/phone network points.
• Design and install plumbing systems for catering and sanitary equipment.
• Provide solutions for building improvements.

Health and Safety

• Produce and understand risk assessments and method statements.
• Follow and understand chemical safety data sheets COSHH.
• Follow and understand safety checks on plant and equipment (drills, angle grinders, ladders etc)
• Adhere to all Health & Safety legislation relevant to the role.

Skills & Competencies required:

• Completion of an electrical craft apprenticeship 
• 2 years post qualification experience preferably within a similar venue or commercial maintenance environment
• Must possess 17th edition of the IEE Regulations BS7671 Qualifications
• Must possess City & Guilds 2365 Part I,2 and 3 Certificate or equivalent
• Able to perform physical labour tasks
• Be able to work unsupervised and part of a team
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to problem solve and make key decisions
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Prioritise workloads and respond positively to changes in work priorities.
