SMG Europe has been selected to operate what will become Britain's most exciting concert venue when it opens in the city centre.
Detailed specifications for the arena have yet to be decided and will involve input from SMG, but it is expected to have around 12,500 seats; have an entertainment focused layout; be able to cope with national and international scale music concerts; be built to allow maximum flexibility of use, so a variety of events can be staged and be designed so it is sympathetic to its location.
A 5.1 acre city centre site at Claypit Lane has now been selected as the preferred location for the multi-million pound entertainment venue. The site benefits from the city centre's transport infrastructure and will complement the activities of the Universities to create a real regenerative impact.
Focus has now turned to the planning and development of the project and the spectacular external design has recently been revealed.
