Nicky Dunn has worked in the Industry since 1988 when she joined London Arena after selling her fitness club business. When London Arena went into receivership in 1991, Nicky took over its running, managing its reopening and successfully developing its business in order to sell it to SMG in 1994.
Nicky continued working at the London Arena for SMG.
When the company was awarded the management contract for the Odyssey Arena, Nicky moved to Belfast where she assembled an experienced team and oversaw the fit-out, pre-opening phase and the opening of the venue in December 2000.
Nicky has remained in Belfast. Since opening, the Odyssey Arena has become Northern Ireland’s major venue for concerts, shows and sporting events, as well as attracting exhibitions and conferences. Highlights include concerts by most major touring artists, as well as international sporting events such as the World Amateur boxing championships and the Belfast International Horse Show. The Arena has had a significant impact on life in Northern Ireland; recent studies show that it contributes an estimated 10 million pounds per year of additional spend to the local economy.
