Nick Reed

Chief Executive - The Bridgewater Hall

Nick has been professionally involved with managing theatres and concert halls since graduating from Sheffield University with a degree in Politics in 1984.

During his time in Sheffield, Nick took his first steps in presenting live entertainment by performing in and promoting local bands and theatre. However, despite appearing on stage with Eddie Izzard, it was a managerial rather than performing career that beckoned.

Nick has subsequently managed venues around the UK, in Ireland and the USA. He was responsible for establishing Llandudno's

North Wales Theatre as one of the UK's leading receiving theatres, and in 2002 he opened The Helix, the largest arts centre in Ireland.

In January 2006, he was delighted to be offered the post of Chief Executive for  The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester's most iconic venue. The Hall has led Manchester's renaissance as a musical city and this is reflected in a programme that could typically include Morrissey, The Hallé and Kiri Te Kanawa in the same week.

Nick is lucky to have worked in a diverse range of venues and has consequently seen thousands of performances including every type of live entertainment. Personal highlights include Manic Street Preachers and Welsh National Opera in Llandudno, and Cecilia Bartoli at The Bridgewater Hall.

Nick lives in Glossop with his family where he occasionally gets time to enjoy motorcycling and long distance triathlon.
