Born in 1950, Colin is one of the most experienced Managers of Events and Sporting/Leisure Facilities in Great Britain. He graduated with Degree level pass with Merit from top Physical Education College, Borough Road (London University) and then taught Physical Education for two years before moving into leisure centre management.
From 1987 – 1995 Colin was Assistant Director of Leisure Services at Gateshead, in overall charge of all Leisure facilities (400+ Staff), as well as taking responsibility for all the International Events organised and held in those facilities. Events ranged from Junior Great North Run to International’s Rugby Union, Rugby League, Athletics, Volleyball, Netball, Table Tennis etc to major 38,000 capacity pop concerts by stars including Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams. Colin also spearheaded the successful Bid for a European Swimming Championship in 1993.
Colin became Executive Director of Newcastle Arena during its build in July 1995 with the Arena opening in November 1995. He has also worked for SMG at Manchester Commonwealth Games and was involved in the Feasibility Report/acquisition of Braehead Arena, Glasgow Account. In 2004, his role expanded to include management of The Journal Tyne Theatre, Newcastle.
Colin has also lectured on public safety at major events at the Emergency Training Centre at Easingwold.
